PROJECT 27

After years of owning a home they loved and on a street they never wanted to leave, these Toronto homeowners chose to reinvent the house rather than move on from it. A significant addition and complete reorganization of the layout transformed the home into a more thoughtful reflection of how they wanted to live, while preserving the sense of familiarity that made the house feel like theirs.

The design was guided by three simple ideas: tranquil, timeless and fun. Calm, layered interiors are grounded in warm wood, natural stone, soft curves and considered cabinetry, creating spaces that feel restorative without feeling sparse. Classic architectural details and enduring materials establish a foundation designed to age gracefully, while playful touches—blue and green tile, colourful millwork, and unexpected artwork—bring personality and energy to the quieter palette.

Throughout the home, materials and motifs subtly evolve from room to room. Travertine shifts between different cuts and applications, while curves and herringbone patterns reappear in new contexts, creating continuity without repetition. It’s a home designed to feel cohesive at first glance, but increasingly personal the longer you live in it.
